Sonata for Trombone and Piano is a three-movement work utilizing a range of techniques from the performer, from lyricism to technical agility. The first movement contains both of these moods in the main thematic material, covering a wide range of the instrument. The second movement is entirely lyrical in nature, with an emphasis on the legato melodic line. The final movement is technical and again covers a wide range of the trombone.
