Aurora Sings At Dawn score - I had some extra time while giving a theory final and cleaned up the score to Aurora Sings At Dawn. I am hoping to re-visit Longfellow for a tenor and piano cycle this summer, stay tuned! - Joe
The Pole Star news - 5/4/2012
The premiere performance of The Pole Star is now available. Many thanks to William Payn and the Bucknell students for a fabulous performance! The recording will also be broadcast on May 6th as part of a three-hour feature on choral works on Kinetics Radio. - Joe
Texas News - This past week I visited Trinity University in San Antonio as a guest composer. I really enjoyed meeting the students in private lessons and the masterclass, and it was great to have some honest-to-goodness Tex-Mex once again. A big thank you to Dr. Brian Bondari and the rest of the Trinity faculty for making my visit a joy!

Next month you can hear my horn concerto at the International Horn Society's Symposium in Denton, TX. Dr. Paul Stevens (the concerto dedicatee and my wonderful former teacher) is doing a smashing job on the piece, so please check it out if you are in the area. - Joe
Recordings - 2/20/2012
Melissa and Rob Overton recently completed a studio recording of their commissioned work Imaginary Sheep and Other Fantastic Tales. Click the link to hear both the individual movements and the live premiere on YouTube. Fantastic singing and some great accordion playing from them! The initial proposal for this piece was intensely terrifying but I am very happy with the end result.

In other news, Jason Worzbyt and his band completed a studio recording of Frenetico this past weekend. Look for more news on that project in September after the mastering is complete! - Joe
Nautilus performance - The superb TEMPO ensemble at Cal State Northridge under the direction of Daniel Kessner will perform Nautilus on March 18th at 3:00pm. The performances tab to the right has been updated with several new items - keep them coming! - Joe
